About IMBA

The International Minority Bankers Alliance (IMBA) was created with one simple but powerful truth in mind: when we lift each other up, we all rise higher.

IMBA is a community, a family, of financial services professionals from every corner of the industry, united by a shared purpose to champion, develop, and elevate diverse talent in banking and finance across the world. We are here to be a thought leader, a resource, and a connector for those who have the talent, the drive, and the heart, but who too often haven’t been given the access.

IMBA was born from a group of seasoned minority banking professionals in the Chicago area who came together seeking a safe space. A place where they could be authentic, share ideas, dream bigger, and set their sights on goals that once felt out of reach. In that room, something powerful happened: they realized they were not alone. And from that moment, a movement started.

Today, IMBA (a 501c3) stands as a beacon for Black and Brown professionals across the financial sector. Our mission is grounded in creating opportunities, opening doors, and making sure that every voice, especially the ones that have gone unheard for far too long, is seen, valued, and supported. We foster honest conversations, meaningful relationships, and development pathways that help our members grow not just in their careers, but in confidence and purpose.

As IMBA expands its reach around the globe, we remain rooted in one belief: when we build a more inclusive and equitable financial industry, we are building a better future for all of us. And that future starts with community, compassion, and the courage to lift as we climb.

Our Values

We envision a world where minority professionals are not just present in finance, they are leading, shaping, and transforming the industry.

A world where inclusion isn’t an afterthought but a foundation.

A world where talent is recognized, voices are valued, and every professional, regardless of background, has a fair chance to rise.

IMBA strives to be a global force for equity, opportunity, and representation, creating a future where finance reflects the variety, brilliance, and resilience of the communities it serves.

Our Mission

Our mission at the International Minority Bankers Alliance (IMBA) is simple at its core but powerful in its impact: to open doors, create opportunity, and elevate diverse talent across banking and financial services worldwide.

We are here to nurture community, build confidence, and provide the support Black and Brown professionals need to grow, lead, and thrive, not just in their careers, but in their lives. Through connection, mentorship, advocacy, and development, we stand committed to lifting as we climb and making room for more at every table where decisions are made.

Our Core Values

Community

We believe in the power of togetherness. No one succeeds alone, and at IMBA, every member is embraced as part of a family rooted in support, connection, and shared purpose.

Equity

We champion fairness and access. We work tirelessly to remove barriers, uplift underrepresented voices, and build pathways that lead to lasting change.

Integrity

We lead with honesty, humility, and courage, because true leadership isn’t just about titles, it’s about character and consistency.

Growth

We are lifelong learners. We invest in personal development, career advancement, and opportunities that empower our members to reach higher and dream bigger.

Empowerment

We shine light on others. We encourage, mentor, and inspire because we know that when one person rises, they create ripples that lift countless others.

Purpose

Everything we do is intentional. Every program, partnership, and initiative is designed to move our members closer to the futures they deserve.

We Work With the Very Best
